# Codex (desktop)

Use this for Codex desktop, including Codex in the ChatGPT app. Set up once; new sessions use the same connection.

1. Paste this into a new Codex chat:

```text
Connect Biosimulant at https://api.biosimulant.com/mcp.
Help me sign in, reuse any existing connection, and confirm my account.
Do not start a session or run anything.
```

2. Follow the sign-in request and approve access for your Biosimulant account.
3. [Create a session in Studio](/studio/quickstart), then paste its session prompt into Codex.

Using staging? Copy the setup prompt from staging Studio instead.

Open **Settings → MCP servers → Add server**. Name it **Biosimulant**, choose **Streamable HTTP** and use:

```text
https://api.biosimulant.com/mcp
```

Save, restart if prompted, then select **Authenticate**. Start a new chat after signing in.

For CLI authentication:

```text
codex mcp login biosimulant --scopes hub:read,biology:read,workspaces:read,workspaces:write,runs:read,runs:write,passports:read,packages:publish,offline_access
```

[OpenAI's MCP guide](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/extend/mcp?surface=cli) covers settings and authentication.
